Correspondence:
- A Haddonfield Ave. resident complained out Sub-primo restaurant creating a health hazard with bird droppings in the area due to throwing bread on the street. LVT advised the resident to call the Business Owner, send a written letter to Mayor/Council, contact the Lavallette Business Association and, if no action, call the Ocean County Health Dept, 732-341-9700, to advise them of the health issue.
- A resident complained about a large SUV parking in front of her home obscuring her view when backing out. Advised her of new 25 foot parking distances from stop signs. Suggested she call Borough Hall to see if her issue resulted from the new law.
- The Lavallette Board of Education notified LVT that they would use the $35,112 additional state aid as tax relief for the current fiscal year.
- County Engineer Frank Scarantino responded to LVT’s letter about the hazardous situation at the boat ramp. He responded that “the County no longer has the ability to dredge as our vessel has been retired due to wear and tear.” “The authority to “close” the ramp lies with Lavallette Borough, owner of the facility.”
- Thank you note from scholarship recipient Casey Cresbaugh expressing pride in being awarded the Ralph Gorga Scholarship because of Ralph’s community service.
- LVT’s letter to the Borough stating concern for the mishandling of the Heritage Arts and Craft Day Event on July 31, 2011. Concerns were related to illegal removal of signs advertising the event of a 501 (3) (c) organization interfering with this fundraising event with potential loss of revenue; lack of adequate clean-up of garbage and toilet facilities, creating a public safety hazard due to lack of police presence. Typically, for this event and the evening concert, which occurs every Sunday in the summer, police provide for the public safety. Also, the lack of ground lights, which act as guide lights in the evening were not on. ( No response from the Mayor/Council to LVT’s letter of August 22, 2011).
Other LVT Business:
- Appointment of Ann Gorga as LVT’s 1ST Vice-President in place of Lach Cameron who asked to become a Director instead.
- LVT Membership Dues will remain at $10 per family for 2012 (two persons per membership.)
- Under-assessed properties issue: No response from Mayor/Council related to LVT’s request for further information related to under-assessed properties.
- Update: storage of construction material, etc. on small island property bordering Lavallette Ave. and multiple signs on Bryn Mawr and Route 35 property: Some of the unsightly material has been removed from the property but not all. Construction trailers/materials remain. The multiple signs on the Bryn Mawr property have been removed as per ordinance of only two signs to a property.
- New webmaster sent LVT his proposal since our former webmaster passed away. LVT approved up to $600 in yearly expenditures for set-up, maintenance and updating of our website.

- Approval of $1,200 LVT Liability Insurance due in January 2012.
- Reducing LVT meetings on an as-need basis. Busy months for LVT business, based on past history, have been in Jan., Apr., May and June.
- LVT communicates with Members by posting meeting minutes on our website www.lvtnj.org Members can e-mail us at lvtnj@optonline.net which is monitored daily. LVT looked into group phone messages but will not initiate this as it requires set-up fees, manpower to initially input and update phone numbers and a charge per 1000 calls each time it is activated. E-mail communication requires our data base to be updated, maintained and operated for a fee.
