Minutes of the LVT meeting of September 18, 2009
The meeting was called to order by President Joe Marcianti. Officers and Directors also present
were Lach Cameron, Alice Bass, Celeste Brockwell, Ann Gorga, and Joe Ardito. Absent was Sara Ardito.
The minutes and Treasurer's Report were accepted as read.
Membership: 685 families. Membership dues for 2010 will remain at $10.
Correspondence: A thank-you from Jessica Shohfi, an LVT Scholarship recipient;
a notice of a seminar for 501 ( c ) (3) Organizations and a notice from
Bank of America as to a change in the monthly statement.
Municipal:
- Resident who bought a $250. parking permit to park in front of his house-ordinance does not allow for towing of an unauthorized vehicle in the space-only provides for a summons.
- Water, sewer and electric bills can now be paid on-line
- Lavallette Business Association (LBA) Request for 2 hr. parking signs in business district never happened. Reported that Heritage Day was the " best ever."
- Increased revenue reported for Beach Badge sales this summer
- 500 parking tickets were issued-mostly in July
- Electric: may see a reduction in electric-borough purchased at a lower rate
- Energy audit done on Borough Buildings accomplished mostly with grant money. Improvements will also be done with grant money.
- Residents not happy with sewer bills
- Wrong way bike riding is a major safety issue
Other Discussion:
Cancellation of homeowner's policies by insurance companies is being reported by some residents
due to the risk of insurance companies writing insurance in coastal areas.
LVT will be more specific in noting the Ralph Gorga Scholarship for next year.
LVT Director, Joe Ardito, is working on e-mail notification of information to members.
Candidate's Night, co-sponsored by LVT and The West Point Island Civic Association , is scheduled
for Friday, October 16th at 7:30 pm. at Borough Hall.
Three local candidates are vying for two seats on the Borough Council.
