Minutes of the LVT Regular meeting of April 17, 2009

Officers and Directors present were Lach Cameron, Alice Bass Celeste Brockwell Ann Gorga, Sara Ardito and Joe Ardito. Absent was President Joe Marcianti.

The meeting was called to order by Director Joe Ardito. The first portion of the meeting was a forum for the candidates for Board of Education: Dan Cupo, Tom Dering and Lisa Taylor.

The regular meeting was opened.

Minutes and Treasurer's report were accepted as read.

Membership: 460 paid memberships; Memberships ahead of last year at this time. Many new members have joined. Friendly reminders will be sent out to renew memberships.

Correspondence: letters received against consolidation of municipalities.

Municipal:

Opposition from ALL Lavallette organizations to advertising on Beaches. No one spoke in favor of advertising on our Beaches.
Due to public opposition, a resolution was passed by Mayor and Council to attempt to cancel contract for advertising on Lavallette's beaches.
$161,000 bonded for new garbage truck
$185,000 for improvements to Bond Ave.
Councilwoman Zalom pushing to extend biking hours on Boardwalk to 5am.-5 p.m.
Sewer infiltration rates will be increased by $50 to $250. per year Reason for the increase was to generate surplus funds according to Borough Administrator.

School Board: Elections for the School are Tuesday, April 21st from 2-9 p.m.

Scholarship: Deadline for applications is May 1st. Two applications received so far.

Advertising on the Beach: The advertising agency sent promotional material to local businesses to solicit advertising on the Beach. No progress has been made by the Mayor and Council to have the contract canceled. LVT will take legal action against the Borough and advertising agency in opposition to advertising on the Beach.

Parking committee: Meeting scheduled for April 1st was canceled.

Lavallette Business Association now has their own website

No nominations were made from the floor. Nominations closed. Motion passed for nominees as stated.

Dinner/social get-together: will move forward with plans for sometime in August.
