Minutes of the Lavallette Voters and Taxpayers meeting July 18, 2008
All Officers and Directors were present: Joe Marcianti, Lach Cameron, Marie Lough, Alice Bass,
Celeste Brockwell, Ann Gorga and Sara Ardito.
Minutes and Treasurer’s report were accepted as read.
Membership: 661 paid memberships
Municipal:
- NJ State Police and Ocean County Representatives presented at a Council meeting information about hurricane evacuation procedures
- Beach Badge sales to date were reported to be $490,830
- September 10th the planning board will have a professional planner come to their meeting to answer questions from the board related to distances between liquor licenses, parking issues and interpretations of “use” vs. “units” in the commercial business district.
- An ordinance giving special permit parking to residences without driveways (approximately 12 property owners) will be charged $150 for the first year for signage and subsequently $250 annually thereafter for a permit to park in front of their homes.
- A fee of $200 per hour will be charged for use of the Gazebo for weddings.
- A fee of $200 will be charged for the mayor’s service for performing the marriage
- Increased costs will be charged for water hook-ups if extra work is needed
- Bicycle safety continues to be a major concern in town and the use of electric scooters. Enforcement of
biking regulations already part of state statues is paramount.
School:
- May 31st was opening of the time capsule at the school with related activities was well-attended.
- Boot camp training was also held at the school
- The Board accepted a donation of pavers from a resident.
- There are a total of 147 children enrolled in K-8 with a mix of resident and tuition students
- August 27th will be the next meeting of the Board of Education
LVT Director Marie Lough will be a representative on the town’s Environmental Committee.
The August meeting of the Lavallette Voters and Taxpayers will be cancelled due to vacations. The next meeting will be September 19th.
