Municipal report:
Parking Committee representative report:
First recommendation to Mayor and Council: leasing spaces in front of homes to homeowners with no driveways. Approximately 10 properties are in question.
Next issue: 2 hour parking on Route 35 North-approaching the State to change the regulations so the Borough can establish 2 hour parking. Previous 2 hour parking signs posted by the Borough on State Hwy. 35 were illegal.
LVT Nominating Committee was appointed by LVT President Joe Marcianti as per LVT by-laws. The committee appointed was Walter Boright, June Cameron and Ursula Marcianti. They will set forth nominees at the April meeting for 2008-2009 LVT President, four Directors and two Alternate Directors.
LVT discussed contacting The National Taxpayers Union Foundation for support for non-resident property owners voting in local elections and copying the letter to the Governor. Discussed having a petition at Heritage Day and in LVT's next Newsletter asking property owners if they're interested in voting rights for non-resident property owners. LVT may also write to the States of Colorado and Tennessee since both these States extend voting rights to property owners who are not residents.
The issue of two uses per commercial property was upheld in Court when a local business owner brought suit against the Borough for its expanded interpretation of the current ordinance. The expanded interpretation would have allowed multiple businesses on a property as long as there were only two "uses". There were many negatives presented as to this interpretation among them being parking.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
