Minutes of the LVT meeting of July 20, 2007:
The meeting was called to order by President Joe Marcianti. Officers and Directors also present were
Lach Cameron, Pamela Boright, Alice Bass, Celeste Brockwell and Ann Gorga.
Minutes and Treasurer’s report were accepted as read.
Correspondence consisted of three thank you notes from our scholarship recipients, Katie
Gorga, Meredith Pfister and Taylor Toscano.
Membership has climbed to 600 paid memberships.
Municipal news:
- A 1500 foot restriction between usage of liquor licenses was adopted in 1978
- Six plenary liquor licenses were approved for 2007-2008
- A restaurant owner wants to use his liquor license but the planned location is less than 1500 feet from another restaurant with a liquor license. Changing the footage restriction would require rescinding the present
ordinance and replacing it with a new ordinance
- Supporters of the transfer of the liquor license are the Planning Board, the Business Community and the Ordinance Committee
- A local restaurant has filed a suit against the borough’s anticipation of changing the footage restriction.
- ‘Save Barnegat Bay’ shared proceeds of their road race with the PBA, Fire and First Aid
- The Borough was fined $67,500 by the NJDEP for creating dune openings through three oceanfront pavilions instead of where they were pre-storm.
- Special parking permits for residents without driveways are being discussed. A parking committee is proposed by the governing body. There are approximately 119 properties/lots that are undersized (less than 50’ x 100’) Of these, about 42 do not have driveways. This creates a hardship for some residents seeking on-street parking.
School report:
- Five resident students are registered for Kindergarten and five tuition students.
- The school is actively seeking tuition students at a cost of about $3,400 yearly
- A report of approximately 600 pages was required to be submitted to the state by schools to provide data to the state Department of Education.
- The school’s summer camp was cancelled due to lack of interest.
LVT Newsletter was mailed to approximately 2500 property owners. Some families who are residents
but not property owners, unfortunately, did not receive the newsletter. Some newsletters were returned
as undeliverable due to inability to forward, no mail receptacle or incorrect address. Visited the
printer/mailing service to remedy the situation.
Beach report was not available. There was not beach report at the last council meeting, but
Alice Bass, LVT Treasurer, will attempt to get a report.
