Minutes of the April 20, 2007 LVT Regular meeting:

Officers and Directors present were President Joe Marcianti, 1st V.P. Lach Cameron, Treasurer Alice Bass, recording Secretary Celeste Brockwell, and Corresponding Secretary Pamela Boright. Absent were Directors Ann Gorga, Pat Hoffman, and Amy Siperstein.

Minutes and Treasurer's report was accepted as read.

There was no membership report due to the absence of Pat Hoffman.

Communications:

A notice from the Rotary announcing their Spaghetti Dinner on May 25th;
A letter of resignation from LVT Director Lillian Buirkle. A motion to accept Lil's resignation passed unanimously.

School Board report:

Maryann Baginiski ran unopposed for the one seat available on the Board of Education. She received 240 votes. The School Budget passed by a vote of 187 in favor and 106 opposed.

Beach report:

Alice Bass reported that she never heard back from Councilman Bob Lamb, liaison to the beach, to follow-up on an initial meeting concerning summer beach operations.

Municipal:

New members were appointed to the planning board due to resignations.
Sewer infiltration fees will increase from $150 to $200 per year.
A new zoning ordinance affecting lot sizes on West Point Island was adopted that provides lots on WPI to have a minimum average lot frontage of 45 ft., a minimum average lot depth of 100 ft. and total lot size of 5, 000 sq. ft. This was passed in an effort to prevent subdivisions resulting in smaller lots with increased number of houses on the subdivision.
Other sources of energy are being discussed by the borough utility committee. The Borough Administrator warned of a significant increase in the electrical utility in the coming years.
The municipal budget will be voted on at the next council meeting.

LVT By-laws were read, passed and adopted on the second reading and will be posted on LVT's website lvtnj.org

The nominating committee presented their nominees for the upcoming election in May. Nominations were taken from the floor, but those nominated from the floor declined the nomination. Those nominated by the committee were Joe Marcianti for president, and for Directors for one and two year terms were Sara Ardito, Alice Bass, Pamela Boright, Celeste Brockwell, Ann Gorga, and Amy Siperstein. Due to vacancies on the Board, some seats are available for one-year to fill unexpired terms. Usually four Directors are elected each year in addition to the President who is elected yearly.

Memorial Day wreath from LVT was approved unanimously for a cost of $100.

A discussion of Ethics and elected officials:

Some municipalities are exploring ordinances related to ethics. Stressed the importance of voters needing to be vigilant in knowing who they are voting for.
